As Co-Publisher and Co-Editor in Chief of Chispa Comics, I’m thrilled to share a blazing milestone for our imprint: the launch of Rosario #1, hitting comic shops in July 2025 under our new partnership with AMP Comics! This is more than a comic—it’s a celebration of Latino voices, magical storytelling, and the resilient spirit of our communities. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to our universe, Rosario #1 invites you to dive into a world of mysticism, sisterhood, and cinematic adventure.
The Spark of Rosario #1
Rosario #1, written by Alan Trezza with stunning art by Hugo Petrus and covers by Vincenzo Sansone and Jeff Zornow, introduces Griselda and Ximenia, twin sisters from a lineage of curanderas known as the "Sisters of the Crescent Moon." These young women wield magical abilities, but their powers come with a heavy rule: dark magic is forbidden. When their family’s legacy is tested, the sisters must navigate a mystical world tied to the upcoming horror film Rosario from Mucho Mas Media, starring David Dastmalchian and Emeraude Toubia. This comic serves as the prequel, weaving a tale of heritage, sacrifice, and the supernatural that sets the stage for the film’s chilling narrative.
What makes Rosario #1 special? It’s a story rooted in Latino culture, crafted with authenticity and heart. The curandera* tradition—honoring healers who bridge the physical and spiritual—grounds the comic in a rich, often underrepresented heritage. Trezza’s script pulses with emotional depth, while Petrus’ art brings the sisters’ magic to life with vibrant, haunting visuals. This is Chispa at its core: culturally vibrant tales that resonate across borders and generations.
A New Chapter with AMP Comics
After a transformative journey with Scout Comics, Chispa has found a new home with AMP Comics, a creator-driven publisher led by industry veterans like Don Handfield and Joshua Starnes. AMP’s commitment to empowering creators aligns perfectly with our mission to amplify Latino voices. As we announced at ComicsPRO 2025, Rosario #1 kicks off a bold slate alongside titles like The Dusk by Alex Segura, The Order by the Albán brothers, and The Thirteen: Rise of the Five by Terry Blas. This partnership is a powerhouse, blending Chispa’s storytelling fire with AMP’s national distribution muscle.
Why AMP? They share our passion for quality and creativity, allowing creators like Trezza and Petrus to tell stories that matter. As a Co-Publisher, I’m proud to oversee a lineup that entertains and reflects our communities' diversity and strength. As Co-Editor in Chief, I’ve worked closely with our team to ensure Rosario #1 delivers the stunning art and powerful words we promised. This is just the beginning—expect more announcements as we expand the Chispa Universe!
